MORNING: Essential Mindfulness

Nowadays it seems our attention is easily scattered and our mind cluttered with endless distractions. By training in meditation and mindfulness, we create an inner space and clarity that enables us to control our mind regardless of the external circumstances. Gradually we develop mental equilibrium, a balanced mind that is happy all the time, rather than an unbalanced mind that oscillates between the extremes of excitement and despondency.

By living mindfully, we free ourselves from the mental burden of worry and over-scheduled lives. Learn practical techniques to reduce stress and anxiety, and find stillness within.

AFTERNOON: Courage to Love

Loving without fear of our relationships going pear-shaped becomes natural and easy when we understand that with pure love, our interactions with others are win-win. Much of our stress, tension and even depression originate in our mind from being excessively caught up with ourselves. Learning to think differently, yet skillfully, with kindness and warmth, is liberating.

In Buddhism, wisdom and compassion are said to be like the two wings of a bird, our wisdom realizing who we really are and our compassion reaching out to others. These two inner qualities complement each other, flying us to a place of increasing fulfillment and joy.

About the speaker: Resident_teacherGen Kelsang Lhamo is a Kadampa Buddhist nun and the resident teacher for Kadampa Meditation Centre Edinburgh. She is greatly admired as a meditation teacher, and is especially known for her ability to inspire others to recognise and identify with their potential. Through her clear approach and her sincere example, she has helped many people to find true happiness from within.
