Breathing meditation

Classes start with a 15-minute breathing meditation, which is guided by the teacher – designed to settle the mind and let go of distractions, in order to get the most out of the session.

Talk on the topic

The middle of the class consists of practical teachings that offer us a deep insight into the power of our mind. Understanding our mind empowers us to improve our experience of daily life. Each week is self-contained but the topics covered will vary each week exploring a variety of meditations that can be reproduced at home.

Concluding meditation

The final meditation will last around 10-15 minutes and vary depending on the focus for the week. This will help us to improve our practical experience of meditation and enable us to carry the insights we gain into our daily life.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.

A series based on one of Buddhism’s best-loved teachings, Eight Verses of Training the Mind, by the great Tibetan Bodhisattva, Langri Tangpa. Clear methods are simply presented for transforming all life’s difficulties into valuable spiritual insights, for improving our relationships, and for bringing greater patience, empathy and compassion into our daily life. These methods have inspired generations of Buddhist practitioners for almost a thousand years, and brought lasting peace, inspiration and serenity to countless people. Now, with this book, Venerable Geshe Kelsang shares the immeasurably rich insight of this ancient wisdom to help us find greater happiness and meaning in our busy, modern lives. With this revised presentation, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, Venerable Geshe-la re-introduces us to the essential practices of Training the Mind. He not only challenges our entire understanding of the world, but also challenges us to transform ourself into the greatest being we can possibly become!
