What
is meditation?

The term Buddha can refer to the historical Buddha Shakyamuni or to anyone who has attained full enlightenment. Buddha means Awakened One, someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are. A Buddha is a person who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions. Buddhists believe that every living being in the universe has the potential deep within themselves to reach this enlightened state.

 

" Buddhist practice is very gentle. It does not require physical deprivation and hardship, but is mainly concerned with the internal task of controlling and transforming the mind."
